About Dr. Bach

Dr. Bach completed her undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.  She received a master of arts degree in clinical psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Boston University where she trained at the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders under the supervision of Dr. David H. Barlow.


Dr. Bach completed a pre-doctoral internship in the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium.  She opened a private practice in 2004 and has served on the clinical faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior of the Alpert Medical School at Brown University since 2006.  She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior and in the Department of Medicine of the Alpert Medical School at Brown.  She supervises and teaches psychiatry residents and she co-leads a seminar series called Psychosocial Medicine for general internal medicine interns and residents.   In 2015 Dr. Bach received the Dean's Excellence in Teaching Award from the Alpert Medical School and in 2020 she received a teaching award from the Department of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School.


Dr. Bach has experience working with clients on a broad range of issues.  She specializes in the cognitive-behavioral assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders in adults.  She also frequently treats couples.  She works collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals and she uses cognitive-behavioral therapy to:


  • teach clients skills and strategies that help to reduce negative symptoms 
  • work with clients on modifying problematic or unhelpful behaviors
  • develop and/or strengthen positive coping strategies
  • help clients change maladaptive patterns in thinking
  • empower clients and help them to become effective in reaching their goals 
  • increase clients' awareness of patterns in their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors
  • improve quality of life.
